How You Can Help

One of the most effective ways to show your support is through a Gift Aided donation. Go to our Annual Fund page to see some of the important and exciting targets that we currently have high hopes of meeting.

All gifts to Bedford Modern School are very welcome and can be made in a variety of ways. For the majority of donors, a donation by cheque or standing order is the easiest method. Alternatively, you may make a gift online.

We can also accept gifts of shares and of real property.

All gifts to BMS offer the donor varying degrees of tax benefits.

Five Easy Ways to Give to BMS:

1. Writing a cheque to ‘The Friends of BMS’ is simple and direct. Mail your cheque to The Development Office, Bedford Modern School, Manton Lane, Bedford, MK41 7NT with a donation form.

2. Set up a standing order in favour of BMS.

3. Donate online www.cafonline.org ( by clicking on the icon on the right hand side of this page)

4. Don't forget about matching gifts. You may be able to double or even triple your gift to BMS through your company's matching gift programme. Check with your employer's Human Resources Department and send the matching gift form provided by your employer to The Development Office, Bedford Modern School, Manton Lane, Bedford, MK41 7NT. You will receive credit for both your gift and your company's matching gift.

5. Include a gift to Bedford Modern School in your Will.

Go to the Legacy Giving section to learn more about supporting the School in this way.

Unless you are making a gift online, we would be grateful if you could fill in the appropriate donation form and return it to the Development Office. All donations will be receipted and on-line donations will be acknowledged as soon as possible after receipt. The table below illustrates how BMS benefits from Gift Aid:

Higher Rate of tax: Donors who are liable to pay the higher rate of income tax can claim the difference (18% currently) between the higher rate of 40% and the basic rate of 22% on the grossed up donation on their annual tax return. Therefore a donation of £100 is worth £128.21 to BMS and, in addition, the higher rate tax payer can claim additional relief of £23.08 for themselves, which means that the gift only costs the donor £76.92.
