The Modern Scholarships
Bedford Modern School is committed to the pursuit of good value independent education, and aims to gather together some of the most talented young people in the area, where all feel comfortable, challenged and supported as whole people. We are committed to keeping our fees as competitive as possible, so that parents will feel confident in committing themselves long term to us as a school.
Within that context, we also wish to stretch the gifted and talented in three areas:-

It is vital that they fulfil their potential, and are not held back within a schooling system.
It is also vital that these routes are available to all gifted and talented young people
within our school regardless of income.
Consequently we have launched the Modern Scholarships
These scholarships are available to all, and will not be means tested
Such opportunities will be available for students in both Junior and Senior Schools.
Talented students will be awarded scholarships and invited to join one of the three
programmes. These invitations could occur either at time of entry or during any part
of the young person’s school career, since we are fully aware that talent develops at
different stages with different individuals.
In effect, the scholarships will involve individual mentoring:
The Gifted and Talented programme, with skills development and working across year groups, will be available to suitably talented boys and girls in both Junior and Senior Schools.
The BMS Sports Academy will be accessible to all identified talented students. Coaching, strength and conditioning, and life style management will all be part of the programme. This applies to the Junior and Senior Academies.
Students with identified musical and performing talents will be invited to join the Performing Arts School, with subsidised tuition, lifestyle management and technique training as part of the programme.
